How to Create, Edit & Delete Resource Calendar Features in gPanel

Learn how to create, edit, and delete resource calendar features in gPanel to keep team schedules accurate and synchronized.

Contents

In gPanel, Resource Features are the specific amenities or technical capabilities assigned to your company's physical assets. While "Buildings" and "Floors" define where a room is located, "Features" define what a room can do.

By accurately labeling your resources with features like “Dual Monitors,” “Whiteboard,” or “Video Conferencing,” you enable Google Workspace's intelligent filtering. This allows employees to search for a room that specifically meets their meeting requirements, reducing the time spent hunting for the right equipment and preventing "meeting hijacking" where users switch rooms last-minute because of a missing tool.

Create feature

Setting up a library of features allows you to standardize the amenities available across your entire domain. To add a new capability to your directory:

  1. Under the Resource Calendars header in the left-hand navigation, click on Features.

  2. Click the Add Feature button in the top right corner.

  3. Enter a clear, concise name for the feature. For example, if your huddle rooms are equipped with tablets for check-ins, enter "Tablets" or "Room Display" as the feature name.

  4. Click Add. This feature will now appear as a selectable option whenever you create or edit an individual resource calendar.

Edit feature name

As technology evolves, you may need to update your terminology (e.g., changing "Projector" to "4K Display").

  1. Select the specific feature you would like to modify from your master list.
  2. Hover over the Feature Name field and click the Edit icon.

  3. Enter your desired updates and click Update. This update will instantly reflect across all resources currently tagged with that feature.

Delete feature

If a piece of equipment is phased out or no longer supported, you can remove the feature entirely to keep your directory lean:

  1. Select the feature you wish to delete.

  2. Click the Delete button in the top right corner.

    Fearures_Delete

  3. A popup will appear to prevent accidental deletions. Verify that you want to remove the feature and click Delete.
